Aftercare Guide

Lona Scott · Care & Repair

Beautiful cashmere and lambswool ask for very little: a gentle wash now and then, a flat place to dry, and a safe place to rest between wears. Choose a part of the routine below and follow along, videos included.

Part One

Washing your cashmere

01

Hand-Washing your delicate Cashmere, Wool & Mohair

Fill a basin with warm water and add a cap of our Lona Scott Delicates Laundry Detergent while gently massaging the detergent into the fabric. Mix well and allow the garment to soak for a few minutes, then start to gently hand-wash it. Always remember lukewarm water, never hot (hot water can shrink the fibres). Once washed, softly shape the garment into a loose ball and press it against the side of the basin to remove all excess water. Avoid stretching, or twisting your garments as it can stretch the original shape of it.

We recommend using around 10ml per jumper or for 2–3 scarves, as the detergent is concentrated. For larger washes or multiple items, simply double the amount.

02

Drying your Garments

Lay your cherished garments flat on a surface with high airflow. For the best result, avoid hanging cashmere & wool garments, laying it flat preserves its original silhouette. This drying method ensures your garment retains its shape.

Part Two

Repairing & restoring

01

Repairing your Cashmere

If over the years any small imperfections or holes appear, use our Darning Yarn and Cashmere Repair Kit to fix and give your delicates an even longer life. The Lona Scott Cashmere Care line is here to give functionality and longer lasting garments.

02

Latch Hook

Repair your favourite knitwear with ease using the Lona Scott Cashmere Latch Hook. In this video, we demonstrate how to pull loose threads or snags back through the fabric without damaging the fibres, helping you restore your cashmere to a neat, polished finish. Compact, precise and simple to use, the latch hook is an essential tool for maintaining luxury knitwear.

03

Snag Needle

Effortlessly repair small snags with the Lona Scott Needle for Fixing Pulls. In this video, we show how to use the fine, textured needle to draw loose threads back through your cashmere or wool garment, restoring a smooth, even surface in seconds. It’s a quick and gentle way to keep your knitwear looking immaculate without the need for professional repair.

Part Three

The cashmere comb

01

Using the comb

For extra essential aftercare and maintenance, use our Cashmere & Wool Comb by gliding it in one direction across the fabric in short soft strokes, delicately removing any pills or imperfections. To remove any creases from your garments, you can iron your garments on a very low setting, by turning your items inside-out placing an additional fabric between the cashmere and iron for safety. Alternatively, you can use a hand steamer for similar results.

Part Four

Storing & moth protection

01

Extra Protection for your Cashmere, Wool & Mohair from moths

For best results store your garments in our luxurious Cashmere Storage Bag to preserve the garment’s beautiful shape and avoid attracting any unwanted bugs or moths. The additional natural Cedar-wood block at the back of the storage bag helps repel any moths that might want to ruin your cashmere fibres. For an additional touch of freshness and protection, we recommend spraying your items with a Lavender or Cedarwood scented mist.

Part Five

Extra care

01

Additional care

For added care and freshness, our Lavender & Cedarwood Sachets offer a natural way to protect your fabrics while keeping your storage spaces beautifully scented. The soothing scent of lavender and cedarwood helps deter moths and maintain the quality of natural fibers. With a modern, minimalist design, each sachet is individually sealed for longer lasting and can be hung in a wardrobe or folded neatly into drawers for versatile use. Housed in a reusable pouch, they can be easily refreshed with a few drops of essential oils, ensuring long-lasting protection and a sustainable approach to cashmere and wool care.
