Aftercare Guide
Beautiful cashmere and lambswool ask for very little: a gentle wash now and then, a flat place to dry, and a safe place to rest between wears. Choose a part of the routine below and follow along, videos included.
Washing your cashmere
Hand-washing your cashmere, wool & mohair
Fill a basin with lukewarm water — never hot, as hot water can shrink the fibres — and add a cap of our Lona Scott Delicates Laundry Detergent. Mix well and allow the garment to soak for a few minutes, gently massaging the detergent into the fabric as you hand-wash. Once washed, shape the garment into a loose ball and press it against the side of the basin to remove excess water. Avoid stretching or twisting, which can pull it out of shape.
We recommend using around 10ml per jumper or for 2–3 scarves, as the detergent is concentrated. For larger washes or multiple items, simply double the amount.
Drying your garments
Lay your garments flat on a surface with good airflow and leave them to dry in shape. Avoid hanging cashmere and wool — laying them flat preserves the original silhouette and ensures each piece retains its shape.
Repairing & restoring
Repairing your cashmere
If small imperfections or holes appear over the years, use our Darning Yarn and Cashmere Repair Kit to mend them and give your favourite pieces an even longer life.
Latch hook
Repair your favourite knitwear with ease using the Lona Scott Cashmere Latch Hook. In this video, we demonstrate how the hook catches a dropped stitch and draws it back up through the knit to close a small hole, without damaging the fibres — restoring your cashmere to a neat, polished finish. Compact, precise and simple to use, it is an essential tool for maintaining luxury knitwear.
Snag needle
Effortlessly repair small snags with the Lona Scott Needle for Fixing Pulls. In this video, we show how to use the fine, textured needle to draw loose threads back through your cashmere or wool garment, restoring a smooth, even surface in seconds. It is a quick and gentle way to keep your knitwear looking immaculate, without the need for professional repair.
The cashmere comb
Using the comb
For essential aftercare and maintenance, use our Cashmere & Wool Comb, gliding it in one direction across the fabric in short, soft strokes to delicately remove any pills or imperfections.
Storing & moth protection
Protecting against moths
For best results, store your garments clean and folded in our Cashmere Storage Bag, which preserves each garment's shape and helps keep unwanted bugs and moths away. The natural cedarwood block at the back of the bag helps repel the moths that can damage cashmere fibres.
Extra care
Lavender & cedarwood sachets
For added care and freshness, our Lavender & Cedarwood Sachets offer a natural way to protect your fabrics while keeping your storage spaces beautifully scented. The soothing scent of lavender and cedarwood helps deter moths and maintain the quality of natural fibres. Each sachet is individually sealed for longer-lasting freshness and can be hung in a wardrobe or folded neatly into drawers. Housed in a reusable pouch, they can be refreshed with a few drops of essential oils for long-lasting protection.

Removing creases
To remove creases, use a hand steamer, or iron on a very low setting with the garment turned inside out and a cloth placed between the cashmere and the iron for safety.
